Are you aware that Liberal Arts is now considered as the New Science! The World Economic Forum (WEF) has identified 21st century skills that are considered important for students to acquire in order to succeed in the modern workforce. These skills include critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, digital literacy, and problem-solving.
Indian students in the 12th grade and their parents are mainly focused on pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). It is time to add a very powerful option and give it STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Management 😊
The main enhancement between STEM and STEAM education is the integration of the arts as in creative, collaborative skills. STEAM education encourages creativity and the ability to think outside the box and become self-sustained individual STEAM careers need a wider range of skills and knowledge listed above.
We need more Indian youth to have a well-rounded education with interdisciplinary approaches which combine Liberal Arts and Humanities streams with STEM especially in a world increasingly shaped by Artificial Intelligence. This might help future workforce to start companies like Google/Microsoft/Facebook/Tesla instead of working for them.
